Hearing Protection Course

The Washington State Department of Labor & Industries created a worker training course that is designed to choose the appropriate hearing protection for the workplace condition. Customize this course in order to create a more helpful training experience that is accurate for your work environment. Completion of this course fulfills the training requirements of Hearing Loss Prevention (Noise), WAC Chapter 296-817.

Preventing Hearing Loss in Construction: What You Need to Know

This booklet accompanied a class led by the University of Washington Dept. of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences on hearing loss. The materials include helpful diagrams showing the relative noise generated by different construction activities and instructions on selecting and using hearing protection.

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health has a web page dedicated to helpful hearing protection topics such as reducing noise exposure, preventing hearing loss, facts and statistics, and more. Browse to find relevant information that will help you prevent noise-induced hearing loss.

Protecting Yourself from Noise in Construction

Developed by the United States Occupational Safety and Health Administration, this pocket guide on hearing protection includes valuable safety tips and reviews important measurements of maximum noise exposure. In addition, the guide reviews the importance of proper engineering and administrative controls in reducing noise exposure.
